FOR BRENT EAST MP

Brent’s Safety is of utmost importance. Budget cuts in policing have led to increase in crime and disorder. I pledge:

1. Increased police patrols and re-introduction of officers on the beat on our streets.
2. A discrete service offering amnesty to individuals looking to disassociate or escape from gangs or criminal associations.

Affordable & quality housing is a massive issue for Brent’s residents. Rising interest rates have forced private landlords to sell their properties reducing supply and rents have gone up to extortionate levels. I promise:

1. An immediate increase in good quality and affordable housing.
2. A cap on annual rent increases to ensure fair treatment of tenants.

Years of funding cuts and poor governance has left Brent’s health services stretched. GP and Accident & Emergency waiting times have gone up significantly with dentist appointments can take several months to schedule. I will secure:

1. More funding for local NHS trusts to ensure better access to healthcare services.
2. Additional support for those suffering from mental health illnes, children with disabilities and special educational needs.

Funding for early years education in Brent is in shambles with teacher recruitment and retention being a big issues. Parents needing to move homes to get into the catchment area of a good school is a travesty. I will deliver:

• Adequate and proportionate funding for all local state schools to ensure a high standard of education for every child in Brent.

Our youth are the lifeblood of our society and future leaders. A lack of community engagement over several years has led to a deep sense of disconnect, a key factor contributing to anti-social behaviour. I will lobby for:

• Additional funding for youth centres, outreach programmes and counselling services for those suffering from mental health illness.

Council Tax has gone up every year, yet the frequency of waste collection has gone down! This has led to fly-tipping and unclean streets turning our beautiful Brent East into an eye-sore. I will ensure:

1. Reallocation of resources into more frequent waste collection and community skip programmes.
2. Efficient and faster turnaround times for large item recycling.

Prosperity of a community leans heavily on the success of local businesses and enterprise. I will provide:

1. Grants for start-ups and promising entrepreneurs.
2. Affordable loans to support small businesses.

Our government’s inaction and prolonged silence has contributed to a catastrophic loss of human life in Gaza, and an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. I will call for:

1. An immediate ceasefire and cessation of hostilities in the region to ensure safety of all civilian life.

I will advocate for re-allocating foreign aid budget to frontline and emergency services, ensuring:

2. Better pay for doctors, teachers, police, firefighters, nurses and paramedics.
